Description:
Chatrapati Kala Krida Sanskrutik Pratishtan. Palanquin carrying Sai Baba’s photos and footprints is taken to Shirdi. Padayatra begins from Nerul’s sector 18 and reaches Shirdi on the 7th day. Distance covered per day is at least 35 km daily, and on the last day, a distance of 39 km is covered. During these days(of padayatra), sai devotees rest along roads. Scores of Sai Devotees undertake this laborious task and relate a feeling that’s close to absolute contentment and bliss towards the end of the journey. Vehicles carrying daily essential and luggage accompany the troupe during the padayatra. The members of the troupe, wearing similar t-shirts, recite slogans of Om Sai during their journey. With special entry gates allotted for the padyatra devotees, the pain of having covered long distance gets completely overlooked. Padayatri’s get direct access to the shrine. Padayatris first go to the temple where Sai Baba is believed to have made his first visit, the Khandoba temple. Then they place the palanquin in front of the idol of Sai Baba and seek his blessings. On the following day, they return on a vehicle and prepare for hosting a grand feast for the devotees of Sai Baba from the city.
